Youth Information
What we do:
The Youth Information Service provides a free and confidential information service for young people and those who work with them. Young people who have used our service have sought information on going to college, student finance, CV’s and interview skills, emotional support and health services. Young people can participate in programmes based on their needs, such as young women’s group, Irish Youth Music Awards, Junior Group, LGBT+ Ally Group, Creative Space Group and 1st Year group. We also offer hangout space to young people at certain times, to give them a safe space to meet their friends and socialise.
Where we are based:
Our team work across two sites including Carrickmacross and Castleblayney with a youth centre in each location. Each youth centre contains a range of facilities for young people including Wi-Fi, hang out areas, Xbox or PlayStation 4, pool table, Ipads, computer suite, art supplies, cooking facilities etc.
Age Group:
Our needs based Youth Information service is aimed at young people within the age bracket of 12-25 years in Carrickmacross and Castleblayney and our service is open to all young people.
Programmes:
Our programmes have included: youth employability, LGBT+ Ally Support Groups, ECO clubs, X Hale, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Sexual Health and Irish Youth Music Awards, and Youth Information Hour. We run a full schedule of Summer Programmes including, sports, arts and crafts, music, and outdoor activities. We also offer one to one help with SUSI (Student Universal Support Ireland) grants, including information giving, help with form filling, and advocacy.
